5 Reasons the Holidays are a Great Time to Start a Yoga Practice

November 11, 2017

It's the most wonderful time of the year...to start practicing yoga! Why wait 'til January when the winter holiday season provides so many great reasons to start NOW.

# 5: Avoid the January crowds. New students flock to the yoga studio in January. Space is tight and it's more difficult for instructors to give new students one-on-one attention. Come now and enjoy moderately sized classes, more space between the mats, and a chance to connect with instructors before the new year rush.

#4: Burn a few holiday calories. While diet may have a larger impact on your weight gain (or loss), over the holidays it can be more difficult to control your calorie intake than it is to add a little exercise to your day. With 30 classes a week, you can come to class before holiday meals and parties, and the morning after as well.

#3: Make mindfulness your holiday mantra. Yoga is a mindfulness practice, and no time calls out for mindfulness like the holidays. When you take your yoga practice off the mat, you may find you're eating more mindfully, shopping more mindfully, and speaking with more care to the people in your life.

#2: Stress relief. Whether the in-laws are in town, you're behind on your holiday cards, or you're overloaded with holiday activities at the kids' school, we are all a little more stressed than usual right now. We've got you covered. The breathing techniques, poses, and meditation we practice in yoga class have been proven over thousands of years to calm the mind and bring ease to the body.

#1: Our New Student Special just got more special. We get it...you're traveling, or you've got out-of-town guests, you're overcommitted or your exhausted from holiday carousing. Whatever the reason, now doesn't seem like the time to commit to 30 days of unlimited yoga because, well, you'd probably miss a few days. That's why, from now through the end of the year, we've extended our new student trial to 37 days. You can get 37 days of unlimited yoga classes for only $49.

You can start your new student trial any time between now and 12/31/17 and get 7 extra days added on. 7 extra days to see if you experience the benefits you're hoping for from a yoga practice, try all of our teachers and class types, and see if Valley Yoga is a good fit for you. It's easy; just check out our class schedule and purchase the trial when you come to your first class!
